This is more like a poll than anything else.

How long time does your "ch" driver take to load. And what linux-kernel 
version are you using.

In my setup it takes quite long. ~10 minutes, since the driverload 
actually forces a barcode-scan of the tape library (100 barcodes).

It seems to me that earlier versions of the kernel didnt do that.
