I don't think this is the case...
Here's the output from the purge command:

Retention is 31,536,000; if that's expressed in seconds it makes 365 
days, which is what I have in my bacula-dir.conf.

Other periods (for other pools) are set to 60 days, but none is so low 
to be hours.
