i get around 50MB/s without software compression. With compression it 
goes down to 12 (compression=gzip1). 

maybe check you disk speeds (something like tar real files to /dev/null 
and calculate speeds) and check bandwith with iperf (or similiar).

for me also "spool attributes = yes" was a perfomance gain.
