In short what you are looking for is copy pools, which I do not believe are
currently implemented, but on the project list. The workaround is to run a
second full backup. Its not a great option but it works until the real method
is implemented.

staging/spooling configuration

Pasi,

I faced an equivalent situation, where I wanted to have an offsite copy of
my
backups for disaster recovery, as well as an onsite copy for fast restores.

What I ended up doing was making two jobs/schedules/filesets for each client
I
was backing up. The first job/fileset appends to whatever tape is in use
from
the autoloader for local restores, and the second job/fileset writes to the
standalone tape drive for offsite storage. I have 2 pools defined, default
and
offsite, and the system works well for me.

Since the two tape devices are on discrete channels, I can define concurrent
jobs, and backups have been stable for 2 months now.

Hope this helps,

-Gregg

Thanks for your reply!

I'm running Bacula 2.2.8 on CentOS 5.1. Is that new enough?

I've been reading http://bacula.org/en/rel-manual/Migration.html but I'm
still wondering about a couple of things..

I'd like to have backups on _both_ disk (for fast restores) and
tape (for transporting them to a remote location) but it seems
migration in bacula moves backups instead of copying..

so I can't do fast restores from disk anymore after I've migrated my
backups to tape.. and basicly I'd need to copy to a tape immediately after
backup to disk ends..

Is there a way to automatically run migration job after main backup job
ends?
