Any chance you could take a moment to clarify this statement? (Your deleting v4 branch?)

All 4.x development is in the master branch. The 4.0.0 branch is orphaned - it doesn't have any active development. It's confusing to have a branch named 4.0.0 that isn't being used (eg, some people have submitted patches against it, instead of master).
