Others have had problems with firewall/gateway timeouts which is why I
grasped at that straw first - after seeing about an hour time passing
in your log before the sigpipe.   If you have time to babysit you
might try running tcpdump or wireshark with a filter of 'host
IP_of_client' filter just to see if there is any traffic happening in
the time close to the failure.

Services have an associated login - check to see if it is what you
expect and that it does have write access.   And rsync may want
cygwin-style paths (/cygdrive/c/) instead of drive letters in the log
file name.
