Have you tried performing the same FTP manually from the command line of the BackupPC box?

I know QSECOFR is "root" on System i, but it's not guaranteed that it has access to everything.  Are you sure that it has access to the files?  Use WRKFLR to verify this.  And again, try from the command line on the BackupPC machine and see if you get an error message.

Are you using shared folders on i?  You could also try to get the folders using SMB, which is what I have done when I've needed to.  I've never used BackupPC to back up an i (System i is the *only* place where I still use tape!), but I've done other similar things, and I'd rather use SMB than FTP...

(I wonder how many people on this list tuned out as soon as they saw AS/400?  I wonder what the Venn diagram is for fans for System i and BackupPC...  :)  )
