The issue with running a disk that full, is that due to the limited space,
the disk head seeks around a lot to find open space to put fragments of
files. Disk performance degrades measurably above 50% filled; and
filesystem performance breaks down badly above 90% full. The extra seeks
may shorten disk life notably.
