I've applied the patch you provide and try again; here i post the results.

1. using IP:
"Can't open connection to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: Couldn't create new FTP object"

2. using host name:
"Can't open connection to ftp.host.xx: Couldn't create new FTP object"
