Re: [BackupPC-users] Stolen backuppc server

Install a new backuppc server ( or one in a virtual machine ) and then mount your NFS network drive to the $TopDIR which is likely to be /var/lib/backuppc if you are using debian or ubuntu. You can go to vmware and download an ubuntu 8.04 server image that is ready to run and do a quick 'apt-get install backuppc' and when that is done do 'mount -t nfs *.*.*.*:/nfs/path/to/backuppc/files /var/lib/backuppc'. you then either need to get the config files for the old hosts, that can be done by loging in to the net backuppc servers web interface and selecting localhost, which should be populated from the localhost section of $TopDIR, and restore the backuppc directory out of the /etc backup.
Once the config files are restored, you are ready to continue using backuppc OR you can restore from any of the old hosts as you have everything needed, the config file and the pool and the pc directory.
I think you can get this accomplished in 1 hour or less if you have high speed internet to download the vmware image or ubuntu sever iso.
