Thanks for that link, but i wanted to know if it is possible that just 
backuppc performing the backup of mysql files, if that can cause an 
issue with teh files while the server is running, IE like corrupting  
.myd files or stuff like that?

Rob,

Since you are just creating a copy of the files and not writing to them you should be safe in terms of corrupting the live files.  However, you have no guaranty on the integrity of the database files; meaning that the server may be in the middle of a transaction or commit and the files will not contain complete records.  This can cause you problems such as a loss of a database, table or missing rows upon restoration of the backup from BackupPC.

In short: it's possible, but not recommended.
