Changing tape status from active to inactive

Okay - figured that if I ran amlabel -f on the tapes, I could re-use them. But now I'm having a problem with just one set of the tapes. I'm running on Ubuntu with 2.6.1b2, backing up to S3 and when I run amlabel -f on the one set, I get
amlabel -f music musicSet1-0002 slot 2
labeling tape in slot 2 (s3:1N7ZDDHJNDQJAAW8NF02-backups/musicSet1/slot-02):
Reading label...
Found Amanda tape musicSet1-0002
Writing label musicSet1-0002..
amlabel: Error writing label: While listing S3 keys: Error on line 2 char 101916: '<' is not a valid character following the close element name 'StorageClasfe300da946c67c3951276e8f53d65395060b6841931ec35e83'; the allowed character is '>' (None) (HTTP 200).
I tried running amrmtape, then running amlabel again, but got the same error message. How do I fix?
