If you are doing compression on the client side , along with the number
of MAXDUMPS you have on each client will determine how much cpu time
Amanda backups are using on the client. This also depends on what types
of servers you backing up. If you are too concerned about CPU
utilization you can keep skip client compression and set maxdumps to 2
or 1. However, you will get faster backups with maxdumps set to a higher
number.

Subject: Performance Issue
Hi,
I am having one doubt on performance ( CPU
utiltization) of Amanda. Suppose If I am doing the
backup operation for Amanda, is there any performance
issue when the operation is performing?
Please help.
Thanks & Regards,
Silpakala
