Does anyone have experience with either the qualstar RLS-8236 or the Overland ArcVault 48 (both with LTO3 drives?). Specifically I am looking for comments related to reliability of the hardware, although it may not hurt to know about amanda compatibility as well.

I have 2 Overland libraries (an AIT3 Library Pro and an LTO3 Neo2000), and they work exceedingly well. Each has had 1 drive failure, both of which were handled quickly and efficiently by Overland. I've had no issues with the robotics at all.

They both work flawlessly with amanda and chg-zd-mtx.
