it complies to the LTO spec from exabyte (placement, width of codes...) :
http://www.exabyte.com/support/products/manual.cfm?id=1764

and uses code39 without checksum. It's basically a gnubarcode wrapper
that does spec compliant placement of the codes.

If you want to use another code, just edit this line:
system ("barcode -E -b $tag -e 39 -c -n");

but i'm not sure whether about the spacings of the code in this case.
