Look in the client sendsize.*.debug or sendbackup.*.debug file to find
the error reported by tar.
Which tar release? (tar --version)
If it's tar 1.16, you need amanda-2.5.1p3

I'm using v 2.5.1p with tar. The backup reports say
FAILURE AND STRANGE DUMP SUMMARY:
server.slsware.dmz /var lev 2 FAILED [/bin/tar returned 1]
server.slsware.dmz /var lev 2 FAILED [/bin/tar returned 1]
and there's a N/A in the list. Every other dle is fine. This has
happened 2 or 3 times in a row now.
Logged into s.s.d as root, tar entars and untars /var with no problems.
Can anyone please tell me what's going on?
