amrecover_change do not understand

The following is from the amanda.conf example file


amrecover_changer "/dev/rmt/0bn"   
# amrecover will use the changer if you restore
# from this device.
# It could be a string like 'changer' and
# amrecover will use your changer if you
# set your tape with 'settape changer'

I do not understand this parameter and its use. I especially do not
understand the last three comment lines. 

Can someone help this simple mind.
