Josef, I wish I could answer you definitively, but I can't just yet,
because, for reasons that are apparently unrelated to ssh, I haven't
yet actually received any dumps through the pipe.  HOWEVER, I'm pretty
convinced that they are supposed to arrive at the taper machine via
the ssh connection.

After I get that working, I'll worry about the other features you're
asking about.  It's vital to have backups.  As far as I'm concerned,
everything else, including convenient restoration and recovery from
the perspective of client machines, is in the category of
nice-to-have.

(I sure hope I can get this thing stabilized before going to Leipzig
for the Topic Maps -- Research & Applications conference on
October 11-12 (www.tmra.de).)
