If talking about amanda's planning, it "shouldn't" happen.
I'm pretty sure that amanda does at most, estimates of three
dump levels; level 0, the last dump level, and the last level +1.
When done manually, the label tags are pretty arbitrary though.
You can do a full dump, then call the next dump an incremental level 9.
Its contents will be the same as if you called it a level 1.
I've seen suggested "fixed" dump level schedules that bounce around.
Some of these are on the dump man pages. For example, from ufsdump
the first line of a suggested schedule:
Sun Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri
Week 1: Full 5 5 5 5 3
