Not at all, no.

The AMANDA-client runs GNU-tar (you have to set that) over your DLE (this process is executed on the client, so no network transfer), with the exclude/include-list as an option, so only the files that are matching the resulting patterns are sent over the wires ...

Things you exclude don't get dumped. As you would expect ...
