Its hard for a new version to correct a tape that is too small.

Not problems as such, just planner trying to balance things and making
sure your full dumps get done at least once each "dumpcycle".

Verbalizing with some verbosity:

This is taper, the program that writes from holding disk to tape, with a
message for you (taper:)

I was in the middle of writing to a tape, specifically tape volume008.

I had already successfuly written the tape header and 39 DLE's plus their
associated end of FileMarks (fm 40).

I was writing the 40th DLE and after writing a total of 310 GB to this
one tape I encountered a problem (kb 310112256).

The error, as best I can guess since the OS doesn't really give me much
information to work with, is the tape was full (No space left on device).

This is taper again.

I tried that same DLE that failed on the last tape (retrying lore:/local...).

With so little info from the OS I can't really tell what happened, so I'll
print the same guess again. But actually I don't really know if I got to a
different amanda tape or not, I can't even tell you the name of the tape.
So you will have to investigate to determine what is happening.

Jon here again...
Anyway that is what I interpret taper's messages as saying. And if I were
investigating those are the only ones you showed us that I would care about.

Now the questions are things like "is your tape bigger than 310GB" so it should
not have run out? Should amanda have been able to find another tape, if yes,
why didn't it? If no, why did it try?
