I tried to change my host in the disklist from :

For amanda these are different machines :-)
You will get a full dump next time (new entry).
And indeed, it's not supported. But...

but now when i try to restore a file it said that there's no index and I cannot restore files !

The index files are named after the hostname.
Did you try using the amrecover command "sethost" to
set the host explicitly?

Because the hostnames are also filenames for the indexfiles,
they are case sensitive.
That means that "Hostname" is different from "hostname",
and "hostname.Domain" is different from "hostname.domain",
and indeed "hostname" is different from "hostname.domain" too.

I also change directories' name in the log and index folders (inside amanda home folder).

I tried that once in a test setup, and it did work partly:
amrestore at least could access the indexes! (Change contents
of log.DATESTAMP.X, contents infofiles, names of indexfiles)

But actually this is not enough! Even the amanda header on each
image on tape still contains the old name.
And that's very difficult to change. :-)

(Case sensitiveness is suppressed when matching the header,
and that was my problem; so it did work out for me.)

Is there a way to change disklist hostname without messing up all the restore ? :)

The backups are still intact, and you can use amrestore and/or dd to
access the backups. The indexes are just a convenience; you didn't
loose anything.
