Hi, kai AT zimmer DOT net,

on Donnerstag, 06. Mai 2004 at 17:40 you wrote to amanda-users:

kzn> The amindex debug file:
kzn> kirk:/var/log/amanda # cat amindexd.20040506172642.debug
kzn> amindexd: debug 1 pid 17865 ruid 37 euid 37: start at
kzn> Thu May  6 17:26:42 2004
kzn> amindexd: version 2.4.4p2

The server does not really respond ...

kzn> That's all. To me it seems like the amindex daemon is
kzn> making trouble, although the .amandahosts file is ok.

kzn> This is my xinetd entry for amindex:
kzn> kirk:/var/log/amanda # cat /etc/xinetd.d/amandaidx
kzn> service amandaidx
kzn> {
kzn>         socket_type     = stream
kzn>         protocol        = tcp
kzn>         wait            = no
kzn>         user            = amanda
kzn>         server          = /usr/lib/amanda/amindexd
kzn>         groups          = yes
kzn>         server_args     = amindexd
kzn> }

Add the line

group = <group-of-amanda-user>

Check that the server-entry points to the right binary.

Check that the user-entry contains your amanda-user you have
configured the sources with.

(AFAIK, the server_args-entry is not needed).
