It looks to me like you either didn't build your new kernel with SCSI tape
support or the module isn't loading for some reason. I have two Amanda
servers running 2.6 kernels and both work fine using st (although I usually
build static kernels instead of using modules). Check the system logs
when you load the module and see if it reports any errors.
If you have a changer, don't forget to build in support for the sg
(SCSI generic) driver and include the option to probe for multiple LUNS.
