To fix that, look at the columnspec parameter in amanda.conf.  I use this 
for a config that uses an AIT3 drive and backs up lots of multi gig DLEs:

columnspec 
"HostName=0:8,Disk=1:13,OrigKB=1:9,OutKB=1:8,DumpRate=1:7,TapeRate=1:7"

Lines look like this:
