OK. we'll do my questions 1 at a time.
First, I'm still struggling to figure out where my changer is: According to
the exabyte folks, my X80 drive was in "emulation" mode, and was emulating a
exabyte 480 until I removed the emulation.
Once booting, it did do a probe-scsi-all successfully, and gave me a note that
said
4000,scsi@3,1, Target 0, unit 0 Rem Dev Type 8 Exabyte V80 2.06
and continued to do
T1,U0 as mamoth M2
T2,U0, as mamoth M2
T3,U0 as mamoth M2 drives
But: even though I see these devices (drives that is, at /dev/rmt/0,1,2, I
STILL Cant find the robot.
(here's a snippet from my syslog this morning...Maybe I'm just missing
something?)

(and here is the beginning of my /kernel/drv/sgen.conf file:
#
# WARNING: enabling this driver may impact the security and data integrity of
# devices on your system. Please refer to sgen(7d) for details.
#
# sgen may be configured to bind to SCSI devices exporting a particular device
# type, using the device-type-config-list, which is a ',' delimited list of
# strings.
#
device-type-config-list=
"changer" (type 0x08)
I then reedited the sgen.conf file to say
device-type-config-list= "changer" ; # (type 0x08)
Like the sgen man page said to use.
but when I tried a "add_drv sgen" again, it did nothing (and neither did the
boot -r I did after this...)
BUT there wwere no eror msgs like unexpected token from above either.. but no
/dev/scsi there again either...
(Gee, I really WOULDN't be suprised if they were related to the sgen not being
right?!
