This is even stranger that I first thought.
After updating my RH 9 system with
glibc-2.3.2-27.9 and kernel-2.4.20-9 amflush
would hang and 'strace -p' on the driver
process would give no output, not even the
system call currently pending.   I reinstalled
stock RH9 and still had the same results
when trying to flush the days from the holding
disk that were written with the updates installed.
However, amflush does work with days that were
written with the stock RH 9 system.
