Dear all,
due to your responses, i think for the linux servers it's just to much
load, so i spot on the windows machine:
@Richard:
- the client log just mentions the ANS1809W messages and that a
reconnect will be tried in 15 Minutes, theses messages occur sometimes
twice a hour, then there's a gap fo two or three hours . . .
- there're not concurrend jobs, actually the machine just runs three
parallel backup sessions for hours, then starts migration, db backup and
then there are these jobs only (it's the initial backup of parts of the
filesystem, each up to 20 TB)
- the staging pool is quite large (10 TB) and becomes filled by not more
than 15 - 20%, and there are not tape mounts for files too large

thanks, but i did it that way, just a different shmemport :-)

i did the update for the kernel parameters as mentioned [1], but Novell
[2] says: "/Starting with SLES10 the values for shmall and shmmax are
already set to what look like very high values. These values are now set
to the maximum for the system by the kernel automatically, so there is
no need to change them manually anymore."
/=> so i did not change those parameters
btw, i'm not used enough with AIX to see where it behaves like a linux
(x64)/

well, as said before, perhaps three to file sessions moving terabytes of
data a days in one maschine might be to much for linux,
but windows hangs much more often and with much less load :-(
