Dear all,

i'm running in a problemw with two TSM servers, i do not understand:

both, TSM client and server are located on the same maschine and use sharedmemory communication.

well, the performance is quite good, but i found several warnings "ANS1809W - A session with the TSM server has been disconnected." in the dsmerror log.

the explanation due to the IBM infocenter directs to network problems, but shared memory does not use a network? or am I wrong?
so, that's why i do not understand what's the real problem.

i see those messages mostly on my windows servers, linux seems to have much less of them, but some. first i thought, there's correlation with the number of nodes accessing but they appear when there're only a few nodes (four or five) and the number does not increase if there are more nodes the same time. i doubled the values for COMMTIMEOUT (now 600) and IDLETIMEOUT (60), but it seems to have no effect.

neither "top" / "nmon" nor the windows performance monitor gives me a hint, that the server are at their performance limits.

=> does anyone had the same problem?
=> any guess, what to do?

used systems:
1) Dell R610 (12 Cores, 48 GB RAM) with SLES 11 SP3, TSM 7.1.0 server and client, backing up a 130 TB HSM filesystem using 28 dedicated nodes 2) Dell R620 ( 8 Cores, 48 GB RAM) with Windows 2008R2, TSM 7.1.0 server and client, backing up a 90 TB HSM filesystem using 16 dedicated nodes

both servers act as a "gateway node" to the SAN-based HSM filesystem and therefore have direct and local access to the filesystems to be backuped.

thanks & best regards
Bjørn
