Question is not clear. HMC is running under Linux on separate server. HMC 
manages AIX logical partitions on Power5/6/7. You can start and stop AIX 
logical partitions from HMC, but you can reboot/shutdown/upgrade HMC itself 
without rebooting AIX partitions - they will be still running in normal mode.
