As it turns out, NetApp / nSeries snapshots do have predictable/static names.

At that point, I'm not sure what the value would be of using the TSM scheduler, 
as opposed to (e.g.) cron.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.  I'm thinking that if I want to do this, 
I'll probably abandon the TSM Scheduler in favor of home-grown scripting.  But 
I may just wait to see if snapdiff gets supported on vFilers, at which point 
this issue becomes moot for me.
