It was counter intuitive for me when I first heard it, but the newer
3584 has two network ports on the base frame. Several of our libraries
have both ports configured with IP addresses, and in the event the first
is unreachable, you can use the second.

I always associated this second port with the ability to connect a
master console. But we don't have a master console.

YMMV.

Good Morning Joe,

We have been running into the same issue. We did not know about turning
off and on the IP Port.

We have been resetting the library to fix the problem. Luckily it does
not happen all the time.
IBM did tell us that they thought that things would improve if we
upgraded to the latest level of the firmware on the 3584.

Of course upgrading opened a new can of worms. In the past, if you
forget anyone who has a library with DLT8000 support, there was only one
track of firmware levels.
Now there appears to be at least two, the 8160 and 7379 levels.
Our CE is telling us that the 8160 is for 3592 tape drive only libraries
and the 7379 is for libraries with lto tape drives. Of course the readme
files on the IBM download site do not say this. They have the readme
title of ALMS only for the 8160 level of code. No where does it appear
that they talk about 3592 only?

This two tracking of the code does not bode well.

Sigh len

PS IBM did give us one workaround. If you have a newer D frame, it has
it's own Ethernet interface. If this is connected with a different ip
name and ip address then this interface can be use for most of the web
interface functions when the primary interface is down.

Hello Steve.
We also have a 3584 and are having the same issue. We had to call IBM
hardware out to fix ours the last time this occurred. From what I
understand there is no way to remotely address this issue and that the
IP port needs to be turned off and then turned on again. I wish I could
give you more information but that's al I can remember.

Hi All

I have a 3584 library that I was using the web interface to communicate
with. The web interface has stopped responding although the library
itslef continues to work.

Is there a way to restart the web server from the front panel? Can it
be done remotely?

Thanks

Steve.
