James,

This may not address your specific need, but here is how we handle reclaims.

We are running reclamations about 12 to 20 hours a day.

We check every 15 minutes to see if a any other job is accessing a each
storage pool, then check if an admin schedule called "STOP_PROCESSING"
(which does nothing) is ACTIVE.

If this is ACTIVE (set automatically at certain times or manually by us) the
reclaim script just exits.

Otherwise, storage pools needing reclamation and not currently busy have a
reclaim started.

Reclamations are all set to run for a duration of 115 minutes.

If the STOP_PROCESSING flag is set, the next reclaim window will just exit
and other processing occurs.

Most of the time it is set to "NO", so the reclamation starts again and has
a good chance of needing the same tapes that are possibly still mounted
(MOUNT RETENTION is set to 10 minutes).

Bob.

Hello Everyone,

Has anyone written a script to stop reclamation at a certain point or
know of a way to stop it instantly without canceling the process manually
from the command line. I know you can use the duration parameter; however
this stops the reclamation after it is done with the current volume. I am
looking to control the process more because of other VTL processes need more
precedent. I am currently running TSM v
5.5.1 on a windows 2003 server.

Any help is always appreciated

Thank you
