I can see a point in that. Maybe there is a Application that only works with 
SQL 32-bit?

Boris,

Officially, Data Protection for SQL only supports
the x64 version while running on an x64 operating system and
the x32 version while running on an x64 operating system.

I am still trying to understand why you would want to
run SQL Server 32-bit on a 64-bit OS.
