What is your resoruce utilization set to.  I'm wondering if you have multiple 
sessions going at once.  If this is the case maybe there is an issue with have 
a drive running a backup also having a cache location on it even if it is for 
another drive.  I admit I am just guessing here.

You could test this by setting resource utiliztion to 1 and then seeing if 
things hang or not.
