can the server mount tapes for its own use (i.e. database backups, reclamation, 
etc...)? Are the drives and paths online? Has your devclass a accurate 
MOUNTWAIT setting configured?
And last but not least: Is there no other/additional error message in the 
actlog and/or dsmerror.log?
