Joshua, the open file support is not a default install option. You would
have to perform a custom install to get it. If you really believe this was
the "typical" install and no one explicitly went into the setup wizard and
enabled open file support, then you should contact IBM support for further
help. Is this install problem repeatable for you (would help if we could
recreate, but I haven't seen this problem).

The client messages you pointed out are not from an image backup, but
indicate that you were indeed attempting to perform a backup with open
file support; but the snapshot cache location is on the same volume as the
one you are backing up, which is not allowed (see the
SNAPSHOTCACHELOCATION option in the client manual for more info). You
would need to use the setup wizard to remove OFS if you do not wish to use
it; OFS is not enabled via the options file.

Andy

The only dumb question is the one that goes unasked.
The command line is your friend.
"Good enough" is the enemy of excellence.

This was a brand new machine with no TSM code on it.

The standard installation method was used, just default modules were
loaded.

The error message we get is:

ANS1228E Sending of object \\hostname\c$ failed
ANS1381E The snapshot cache location cannot be located on the same
volume that is being backed up.
ANS1228E Sending of object \\hostname\c$ failed
ANS1377E Unable to perform operation using a point-in-time copy of the
filesystem on '\\hostname\c$. The backup/archive operation will
continue without snapshot support.

I am not 100% sure what it is doing right now and am hoping that you can
shed some light on the situation.
