HI All,

This is a 3590 question rather than TSM as such, but this is the best forum
for it.

I need to take system images of several AIX boxes each week to SAN Attached
3590E drives in my 3494.
It seems like overkill to devote a whole 3590 tape to each image as they will
only be a few gig each.

I stumbled across some doc which implies that a 3590 tape can be partitioned
into smaller segments which can then be used independently. (see items 36 and
38 on the tapeutil menu). However, this is old doc, and I assume the feature
is from the early days of 3590 when 10GB was an enormous amount of storage.

Has anyone used this partitioning feature? in what circumstances?
Are there any gotchas?

Thanks
