I am seeking a consensus on the topic of HSM in the NT server environment,
primarily "File and Print".

Simply as possible - What is best approach for HSM in the NT environment (if
any) ?

My understanding is ADSM does not have a native HSM functionality for NT.

At this site the NT group has perceived need for HSM because of 2 major
problems;
1) Because they were using a Arcserve full volume backup methodology they
were
unable to complete the backup within an acceptable batch window
2) There are operating system overheads with a large disk pool ( < 250 Gb )

Problem 1 is obviously solved by the introduction of the ADSM incremental
approach however the need to perform weekly / monthly dumps still remains.

What are the options as I see them now.

1) Install a third party product (eg Seagate's Storage Migrator) which works
in
conjunction with ADSM backup
2) Buy more disk which is cheaper than the third party option
3) Manually archive then delete old files ( could be automated via a product
such as SAMS Vantage)
4) Wait for NT 2000 which will have native HSM support (would need to be
combined with options 2 or 3)

Your comments and / or implemented solutions would be appreciated
