Hi all,

I've been struggling with getting single volumes checked into an ATL
PowerStor L500 DLT library (a.k.a. Quantum PowerStor L500) attached to an NT
server running v3.1.2.20. It seems that if I attempt to CHECKIN a
previously labeled tape by:

CHECKIN LIBVOL MY-LIB VOL001 STATUS=PRIVATE

the operation fails like so:

05/12/1999 08:31:23 ANR0984I Process 79 for CHECKIN LIBVOLUME started in the
BACKGROUND at 08:31:23.
05/12/1999 08:31:23 ANR8422I CHECKIN LIBVOLUME: Operation for library MY-LIB
started as process 79.
05/12/1999 08:31:23 ANR8314E Library MY-LIB is full.
05/12/1999 08:31:23 ANR8310E An I/O error occurred while accessing library
MY-LIB.
05/12/1999 08:31:23 ANR8426E CHECKIN LIBVOLUME for volume VOL001 in library
MY-LIB failed.

The interesting thing is that the library is not full at all. There are 14
tape slots, only one of which contains a tape (said VOL001 for testing).

However, if I check in the tape by:

CHECKIN LIBVOL MY-LIB SEARCH=YES STATUS=PRIVATE

the operation succeeds, like so:

05/12/1999 08:37:24 ANR0984I Process 80 for CHECKIN LIBVOLUME started in the
BACKGROUND at 08:37:24.
05/12/1999 08:37:24 ANR8422I CHECKIN LIBVOLUME: Operation for library MY-LIB
started as process 80.
05/12/1999 08:38:49 ANR8430I Volume VOL001 has been checked into library
MY-LIB.
05/12/1999 08:38:49 ANR8431I CHECKIN LIBVOLUME process completed for library
MY-LIB; 1 volume(s) found.
05/12/1999 08:38:49 ANR0985I Process 80 for CHECKIN LIBVOLUME running in the
BACKGROUND completed with completion state SUCCESS at 08:38:49.

The use of the SEARCH option vs. explicit volume names is generally OK,
except when trying to mount the cleaning tape with the new v3.1.2.20
automated drive cleaning support.

Any thoughts? hints?

Thanks in advance.
