My understanding is that the -todate will restore all active and inactive up to
that point. -Pitdate will restore only the files that were active at the date
specified.
This is how I understand it ... we just did a restore using pitdate and it
worked great. Using -todate would have meant getting some inactive files that
were not needed ...

Subject: Still confused about using pitdate...
I'm still confused about the use of "pitdate" to do restores on the V3
client.
I know that pitdate uses the no-query-restore protocol, and todate does not.
But is there any difference in the RESULTS you get with these 2 commands?
dsmc restore -pitdate=05/05/1999 c:\my\windows\directory\*
dsmc restore -todate=05/05/1999 c:\my\windows\directory\*
Enquiring, confused minds want to know.....
