There is no "typical" MB/Hr backup rate! But You can significantly increase
your throughput by fine tuning your ADSM Server and Clients! If you go to
http://www.storage.ibm.com/software/adsm/pfguide/tgv31mst.htm you will find
the 'ADSTAR Distributed Storage Manager Version 3 Release 1 Performance
Tuning Guide'. This should help you find tune your Server and Client.

Some factors to consider: file size! Larger files are processed much quicker
than smaller files; Network Bandwidth and activity when backing up; Your
clients! How many clients and where they are located; The ADSM link above
will guide you through many of these considerations.

We are running a RS/6000 J50 with a Magstar 3570, 3 seperate applications
including ADSM. Our Client and Server resides on the J-50 so we use a
'shared memory' protocal instead of TCP/IP on our Server/Client
configurations. Below is the last few days of backup statistics. Note
though, these Stats are derived by using the 'Transfer Time (sec)' and not
the Total 'Processing Time'.
