Sure it does - it tracks all in its database.  This is the info that you get
when you do a 'Query VOLHistory Type=DBBackup' command.  The confusion about
volhist derives from their being an external file containing this data; but
that is just an image of database info, which ADSM typically writes
automatically as processing occurs, or can be incited via the 'BAckup
VOLHistory' command.  There is an external file because you need one when the
database needs to be recovered, and there has to be a current list of
pertinent tapes available.
