Subject: Monthly/Daily Schedule Problem
I have a user who wants to back up their Oracle database dump file with the
following schedules/retention periods:
1. Daily backup - Kept 28 days
2. Monthly backup - Kept 14 months
If I set up these two schedules, on the day the monthly backup takes place,
I will also get a daily backup. This means that the same file will be backed
up twice in the same day. Since this is unnecessary and takes up network
time and storage space, does anyone know if there is a way I can
get around having the daily backup run on the day that the monthly backup
runs. I was thinking I might possibly be able to "trick" ADSM into not doing
the daily by giving the monthly backup a higher priority and having a very
small duration window so that the monthly backup wouldn't be completed
before the daily had a chance to start. Could this possibly work? Does
anyone have any other suggestions. Any help at all would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks.
Betsy
