Let me second that. Now jobs do not hang up when a mount fails; it merely
unmounts the tape and tries again on the next available tape drive. (At least
it does on *our* 3590 drives in our 3494.)

**ALSO**--update your Atape.driver to the latest version. (Ooooh, I knew you'd
ask the version number, which I don't have handy because I'm at home right
now. I *think* it's 2.5.2.1.) Your SCSI connections will thank you for it.
