For my customer I want to be able to do what in the MVS mainframe world would
be forward recovery from a full client backup. That is, I would like to fully
back up up my client perhaps once a week, but then be easily able to forward
recover from nightly incrementals without having to myself decide which data
set needed to be included--similar to DB2's point in time recovery. I believe
Novell has a sort of forward recovery which operates similarly: sequential
incremental backups are applied in a forward manner to a previous full "volume"
restore.
How does ADSM do such a thing? Is it automatic with just a command or two, or
is the process quite involved? Perhaps I need to change my paradigm; can any
of you offer info as to how you've planned for or executed this, or which
piece of documentation I should focus on? --Diane
