Hello @all.

I'm a little bit frustrated. I set up on a new server (AIX 5.1) a new TSM server, 5.1 Level 6.2. The only client is the same machine; backups are going to a disk stg pool and then via migration to a LTO stg pool. Although I created an include-exclude file, TSM does not care about the mgt classes.

In the dsm.sys the inclexcl option is set to:

INCLEXCL "/var/adm/adsm_cfg/inclexcl.lst"

The file /var/adm/adsm_cfg/inclexcl.lst looks like:

Include "/.../*" SYSTEM

Include "/home/pool/rad/catia" CATIA_ENTWICKLUNG

Include "/home/pool/rad/catia/dms/DX1_arc" CATIA_ARCHIVE

Include "/home/pool/rad/catia/bmw/EXCH_BMW" CATIA_ARCHIVE

Include "/home/pool/rad/catia/dc/EXCH_DB" CATIA_ARCHIVE

Include "/home/pool/rad/catia/mcc/EXCH_MCC" CATIA_ARCHIVE

Include "/home/pool/rad/catia/volvo/EXCH_VCC" CATIA_ARCHIVE

Include "/home/pool/rad/catia/vw/EXCH_VW" CATIA_ARCHIVE

Include "/home/pool/rad/cds" CATIA_ENTWICKLUNG

Include "/home/pool/rad/ug" CATIA_ENTWICKLUNG

Include "/home/pool/rel/catia" CATIA_ARCHIVE

Include "/home/pool/mse/catia" CATIA_ENTWICKLUNG

Exclude "/home/pool/mse/catia/dms/cadenas/.../*"

Exclude.Dir "/home/pool/mse/catia/dms/cadenas"

Include "/home/nu/ftp/.../*" CATIA_EXCHANGE

Include "/home/nu/www/.../*" CATIA_ENTWICKLUNG

Include "/home/nu/itec/.../*" STANDARD

Exclude "/home/nu/www/acdb/public/htdocs/lheim/.../*"

Exclude.Dir "/home/nu/www/acdb/public/htdocs/lheim"

Include "/home/nu/www/acdb/public/htdocs/lheim/6Sigma/.../*" STANDARD

Include "/home/nu/www/acdb/public/htdocs/lheim/COVISINT/.../*" STANDARD

Include "/home/nu/www/acdb/public/htdocs/lheim/HELP/.../*" STANDARD

Exclude "/var/tmp/.../*"

Exclude.Dir "/var/tmp"

Exclude "/tmp/.../*"

Exclude.Dir "/tmp"

Exclude "/unix/"

Exclude.Dir "/unix"

Exclude "/.../core"

Exclude "/.../.netscape/.../*"

Exclude "/.../*.log"

Exclude "/.../*.in"

Exclude "/.../*.out"

I created two schedules backing up /home/pool/rad/catia and /home/pool/rel/catia. These directories reside on a FAST200 NAS box, but belong to the local system; meaning that an lsvg shows the volume group directly, the directories are not mounted via NFS. So the DOMAIN ALL-LOCAL should be okay.

The thing is, that everything works just fine, but the data are backup up with the SYSTEM management class. Default management class is set to "CATIA_ARCHIVE". Why? I have no idea.

I restarted server and scheduler more than once. Played around with some settings. Everything without any result. I do not use any cloptset, but since the inclexcl option is set in the dsm.sys, it should work (IMHO).

I have no idea, where to look any more. Any help is appreciated. TIA!

Have a nice time.

Carsten.

Answering my own question! :-/

Hello @all.

<TABLE BORDER=0 ALIGN=CENTER WIDTH=85%><TR><TD><font class="pn-sub">Quote:</font><HR></TD></TR><TR><TD><FONT class="pn-sub"><BLOCKQUOTE>Include "/.../*" SYSTEM

Include "/home/pool/rad/catia/dc/EXCH_DB" CATIA_ARCHIVE

Include "/home/pool/rad/catia/mcc/EXCH_MCC" CATIA_ARCHIVE

The thing is, that all the Include options above must have been set to

"Include /dir1/dir2/dir3/.../* mgtclass"

(e.g. 'Include "/home/pool/rel/catia/.../*" CATIA_ARCHIVE')

TSM needs the "/.../*" at the end of the directory structure to manage the files correctly. As I understand it, a file under /home/pool/rel/catia does not match the original Include option without the "3-dot-attachment". So the top line matches, mgtclass has been set to SYSTEM. But with the "3-dot-attachment" everything is just fine.

Sorry for my stupidity!

Greetings, Carsten.
