I am attempting to restore a smallish chunk of data ~70GB from a Solaris machine running TSM 5.1.5 to a Win2003 client running 5.2.2. About 50GB into the restore the server throws a tape error trying to restore a specific file. The secondary tape copy of the file is also damaged (oh, the humanity!). This causes the Tivoli server and client to just give up the whole restore. The restore is not restartable after this event.

Is there a way to perform a mass restore and have Tivoli continue when it encounters such a problem?

If this isn't the way Tivoli is supposed to behave let me know so I can start collecting diagnostics.

If this is in an FAQ (or the manual) somewhere please give me a shove in the right direction, because I couldn't find what I was looking for.

Cheers,

Robert Kennedy

try a "Audit volume xxxxx fix=yes" !!

it will delete the damage file(s) on the tape and after you can redo your restore!!

hope it will help...
