I remember someone saying that 5.3.6 was the last version that works nicely on Windows 2000, is that correct? The server is 5.5

TSM 5.3.6.0 is the latest one supported by IBM. High version might be working fine also but are not supported.

Regards. Wim.

Officially, only 5.3.6 is supported for Windows 2000. Although 5.3 in general is not supported anymore, support has been maintained on 5.3.6 to accomodate Win2k backups.

5.4.1 may work for file backups, but I wouldn't trust it for system state backups. 5.4.1 may install on Win2k, but it's not officially supported; the install just doesn't perform an OS level check. However, later versions of 5.4 do check for OS level and I don't think you'll be able to install later versions of 5.4 on Win2k.

Server 5.5 should be fine, but I wouldn't go to server 6 until you've weaned off most or all of your Win2k clients.
