Volhist and fevconfg files

How are both volhist.out and devcnfg.out files created on TSM? What generates these both files and by default where are they located? Can we move/copy the files to another location for our DR?

Hello,

files are created by issuing "backup devconfig" and "backup volhistory"
their location is specified in dsmserv.opt file with parameters
devconfig <filename>
volumehistory <filename>
Yes, you can copy them anywhere you want (they are not used when TSM is running) and you can have more of them (multiple entries in dsmserv.opt)

I would add that you bettter have a copy of these very vital files in case of you crash your server disks
